‘Expert’ reveals Loch Ness Monster and Bigfoot aren’t real after a 20-year study

AN academic who has spent two decades studying legendary beasts has risked shooting himself in the Bigfoot — by finally announcing they do not exist.

Dr Darren Naish put his job in jeopardy by concluding the Sasquatch, Yeti and Loch Ness Monster would have been pinpointed by now because everyone carries a phone camera.

Instead they exist only in people’s “psyche”, he told the Cheltenham Science Festival.

Dr Naish said: “You would think by now, with everybody having really quite good cameras, that there would be more and better photos. The only things that have ever appeared are terribly low resolution little blobs in the distance.

“If you saw that anywhere else in the world, you wouldn’t even give it a second thought.”

The Southampton University boffin went on: “I’m always open to new evidence. Someone could kill a Bigfoot or Nessie tomorrow and everything I say would be wrong.

“But I would say that the fact that we haven’t got any of the evidence that we should have by now — alarm bells are ringing.”

Photographs of the ape-like Bigfoot, said to live in the American wilderness, are widely believed to be hoaxes.

And the most famous picture of the long-necked Nessie — taken by surgeon Robert Wilson in 1934 — was later revealed to show a fake made from a toy submarine bought from Woolworth’s.
