[Women's Basketball] Women's Basketball Falls Short to Missouri Baptist

SAINT LOUIS, MO- The Hornets gave the Spartans a run for their money tonight as they battled until the very end. Missouri Baptist ended up with the win with a final score of 63-58.

Jordan May (SO/St. Louis, MO) scored a career high 16 points on 7-11 shooting and pulled down eight rebounds. Jay'La Davis (SR/St. Louis, MO) and Tarsheia Page (SO/Chicago, IL) added in 13 and 11 points, respectively while Takesia Barnes (SO/Memphis, TN) pulled down a game high 10 rebounds.

Missouri Baptist's Alissa Rowden led all scorers with 21 points.

Harris-Stowe couldn't get anything to fall in the first quarter being held to just five points.

The Hornets would not be able to cut into the Spartans lead before the break, looking at a 25-17 deficit to start the third quarter.

HSSU would get baskets from Surina Finnie (FR/Memphis, TN), Kambri Davison (SO/Tulsa, OK), Page, and Davis at the end of the third to cut MBU's lead to just 37-33 going into the final quarter of play.

A bucket from Davis with 8:45 left in the fourth would get the Hornets within two of the Spartans. MBU would answer with a 13-4 run that would push them back out to a double digit lead.

The Hornets would get back-to-back three-pointers from Davison and Page at the end of the game to cut the score to 61-55. Alissa Rowden and May would tack on baskets for each team in the last 10 seconds of the game to make it the 63-58 final.

Harris-Stowe (2-4; 0-3 AMC) will be back in action this Saturday when they host the Eutectics of Saint Louis College of Pharmacy. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
