[Men's Basketball] ONU's Reed Continues Tear, Gains Third Straight POW Honors

CHICAGO --- Olivet Nazarene University's Nic Reed (SO/New Albany, Ind.) continued his hot tear for the third straight week as he was again named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week, this time for the seven-day period ending Dec. 31.  The league office made the announcement on Tuesday.

Reed, a 6-5 sophomore forward, averaged 26.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 blocks per game, while shooting at a .538 clip from the field (21-of-39) in a pair of split decisions for the Tigers.  He also authored his sixth double-double of the season with his 25 points and 11 rebounds to go along with five assists in a 95-89 upset of Keiser University (Fla.) – among others receiving votes in the latest NAIA Coaches' Poll - on Friday.

One night later, Reed totaled 27 points, eight rebounds and three blocks in a 75-70 setback to Edward Waters College (Fla.).

Reed's scoring numbers during the week did nothing to hurt his Top 10 statistical rankings.  He still leads the league with his 23.2 points-per-game average, which also rates ninth-best in the nation.

Olivet Nazarene is 7-8 on the season.
