[Rugby] Cal Maritime Rugby Defeats CSU Monterey to Secure #1 Play-off Seed

Leading 17-5 at halftime, CMA focused its efforts and defeated the CSUMB Otters 41-8 to secure the #1 NorCal playoff seed in next month's playoffs. The Otters were much improved from last year and put up a great effort throughout the match. The Keelhaulers will host and play in NSCRO's round of 32 on April 1. They will likely face the winner of next weekend's Cal Lutheran University / Loyola Marymount University clash. Kickoff is scheduled for 2pm at CMA. Santa Rosa JC will face off against last year's NSCRO runner-up, Claremont Colleges, at 4pm. Saturday's winners will travel down to Southern California for NSCRO's Sweet 16 on 4/8-9.

In the first half, Junior Michael Mukuru Tumusiime led off the Keelhauler scoring followed by fellow juniors CJ Ferrigno and John Bulaich. CJ would open the scoring the second half while freshman Leilua Lualemaga and senior Chris Chesney (twice) would add tries as well. Tumusiime was good on 3 of 6 conversions.
