Cal Maritime wrapped up its spring racing season with two impressive outings in San Diego and Humboldt.  In Humboldt, the crew team finished first in three of its five races, including the men's novice four, the men's varsity eight, and the men's varsity four.  All in all, it was a strong showing by all of the Keelhauler boats.

In San Diego, the Keelhaulers competed in both the men's varsity heavy eight and the men's varsity lightweight eight.  Both boats did a tremendous job against some very good schools.  The lightweights were racing against Purdue, MIT, and University of Victoria.  Although they came in fourth, they reduced the gap between third place and themselves by six seconds from the preliminaries on Saturday.  The heavies were racing in the petite finals against SDSU, UCLA, Purdue, Vanderbilt, MIT, and UC Irvine.  They had a blazing start, coming out ahead of the field and holding off most them halfway through the race.  They came in sixth out of eight, but beat UCLA and SDSU, and they came within two seconds from taking fourth. 

The Keelhaulers will wrap things up on April 29th and 30th, when the men's varsity pair will race at the WIRA championships on Lake Natoma.
