Virgin Islands Boating Expo 2025: VIBE Showcases Top Yachts in St. Thomas
St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands – The Virgin Islands Boating Expo 2025 (VIBE) proved once again why St. Thomas is one of the Caribbean’s hottest yachting destinations. Held May 15–18, 2025, at IGY’s Yacht Haven Grande and hosted by the Virgin Islands Professional Charter Association (VIPCA), the four-day event featured millions of dollars’ worth of yachts from top global brands, alongside daily seminars, sailing demonstrations, and a lively Vendor Expo.
World-Class Yachts on Display
Hundreds of residents and visitors walked the docks to tour an impressive fleet. Exhibitors included Axopar (Sagramoso Yachting), Bali (Pyper Yachts), Azimut & Cigarette Racing (Wally Castro Marine), Fountaine Pajot (Atlantic Cruising Yachts & Waypoint Yacht Charters), Jeanneau (St. Thomas Leisure Boat Charters), Lagoon (Caribe Yacht Group), and Grady White, Nor-Tech, and Tiara (Boat Management Corp.).
Charter Caribe showcased highlights of its fleet, including the Lagoon 77 Aeolus and the Lagoon 46 On A Whim III, while Atlantic Cruising Yachts and Waypoints Yacht Charters jointly featured the Fountaine Pajot Victoria 67 True Story and the Aura 51 G3. Powerboat fans also explored the Axopar 45 Cross Top, marking the brand’s entry into the Caribbean market.
A Cultural Celebration
VIBE was more than a yacht sales event. Guests enjoyed live steel pan music, Caribbean dancers, local bands, authentic cuisine, and island drinks — creating a festival atmosphere that blended boating with culture. “VIBE 2025 was a tremendous success,” says Staci Smith, VIPCA’s Executive Director. “We’re thrilled with the momentum and already preparing for an even bigger show in 2026.”
Business, Learning & Innovation
Seminars covered topics such as placing boats into charter and yacht financing. Waypoints Yacht Charters highlighted tax-advantaged ownership models, while Azul Marine Lending shared how their AI-driven underwriting achieves a 95% approval rate within 24 hours.
Nearly 50 vendors participated, including the UVI Research and Technology Park, Rainman Desalination, and other marine, lifestyle, and technology companies. New innovations, like fully automated yacht watermakers, gave buyers and charter operators a glimpse of the future.
Why Buy in the U.S. Virgin Islands?
The USVI offers unique advantages for yacht ownership. The territory is outside the U.S. Customs Zone, exempting vessels and equipment from duties. Additionally, the Jones Act exemption allows foreign-built and foreign-flagged yachts to charter legally in U.S. waters from the Virgin Islands — a rare opportunity that makes St. Thomas a top hub for yacht sales and charter.
Looking Ahead
VIBE continues to grow as the premier boutique-style yacht sales show in the Caribbean, connecting buyers, charter companies, and the boating community in a family-friendly atmosphere. With strong sponsor support from the U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Tourism, VI Lottery, Azul Marine Lending, IGY, and others, the show is positioned to expand further in 2026.
