O’Leary Insurances Winter league update

0 11

The O’Leary Insurances Winter Keelboat league is well under way, with 3 days of racing behind us and 1 to go. Unfortunately, the weather was not in our favour on occasion, and we lost 2 days of racing to no wind and too much wind! That said, we have 3 fantastic days of racing under guidance of Race Officer Anthony and Sally O’Leary.
Last Sunday was saw moderate Westerlies with occasional sunshine – perfect conditions. The 27 boat non-spinnaker fleet started at grassy and navigated course 19 from the club course card. After day 3 of racing, in IHS, KYC’s Jalapeno lies in 3rd position, with Ria Lyden’s, Ellida in 2nd. Clodagh O’Donovan’s Beneteau Roaring Forties leads the charge but with just half a point between 1st and 2nd it’s all to play for next Sunday.
In IRC, 3rd place is taken by Dark Side, Brian Twomey’s 1720, in 2nd is IF, Kieran Collins Folk boat and out in front is former Olympian, Peter O’leary’s Star Class.
Next Sunday is the final day of racing for the season so let’s finish up on a positive and let’s see as many boats out as possible.  As is tradition, dress your boats and yourselves in festive attire for the final day!
