Royal Cork Yacht Club Optimist Sailors to Represent Ireland on the International Stage!

This year, we are thrilled to announce that twelve of our exceptional Optimist class sailors have qualified to represent Ireland on the international stage!

These dedicated young sailors have honed their skills through our club system over the past several seasons, braving the winter months with relentless training. Their hard work paid off at the 2024 Irish Sailing Youth Nationals, and now they will embark on an exciting journey to compete in events across Europe.
These upcoming competitions will feature over 400 Optimist sailors from more than 50 countries, showcasing the highest level of talent. We have every confidence that our sailors will make us proud. Recently, the teams received additional coaching from Johnny Durcan and Oisin Pierse, both club members who have risen to the top of the sailing world after starting in the Optimist class, just like so many others before them.
We can’t wait to cheer on our sailors as they take on the international sailing community!
