MarineMax Vacations Makes Donation to BVI’s Virgin Islands Search and Rescue (VISAR)

Ten years ago, MarineMax Vacations opened its base at the Nanny Cay Marina and Resort, on the British Virgin Island of Tortola. The company, a subsidiary of Clearwater, Florida-headquartered MarineMax, operates a fleet of Aquila Power Catamarans from 36- to 48-foot available for bareboat and crewed charter. One of the best things about boating in the BVI is safety, and that comes thanks to VISAR, a dedicated and volunteer non-profit group of maritime search and rescue personnel on call 24/7. Put the two together and it’s no wonder that MarineMax in December thanked VISAR with a donation.

“Our donation to VISAR will never be enough to thank them for their continued dedication and efforts. We are fortunate to be able to support this organization and their volunteers for keeping everyone, including our customers, safe at sea,” says Raul Bermudez, vice president of MarineMax Vacations.

VISAR’s two base stations located in Road Reef Marina, Tortola, and the Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbour, Virgin Gorda, house fully outfitted rescue vessels with medical, vessel safety, search and rescue equipment, and communication devices. Bermudez says MarineMax Vacations is thankful to have a longstanding relationship with VISAR and donates annually to this brave and dedicated organization.
