COVID-19 – BSC Update
Dear Members,
In response to the Government announcement on Sunday advising that unlimited outdoor activity will be permitted in England from Wednesday 13th May 2020, the Crouch Harbour Authority has asked all river users to continue to follow Government Guidance on exercising outdoors and maintain social distancing guidelines. They have also asked that the Crouch and Roach boating community take a considerate and responsible approach.
Although a return to leisure sailing, kayaking and paddle boarding is very welcome news for us all after a long eight weeks, I am going to ask for just a little more of your time and patience before we rush to reopen the pontoon.
We are in the process of reviewing the relevant local and government papers that have been published with respect to a return to on-the-water activity at the BSC, and the Trustees, Flag Officers and Committee would like the opportunity to digest and implement these guidelines to ensure the safety of Members during this transition. Furthermore, RYA guidelines suggest that a small Covid-19 team should be formed to expedite this process and we are doing this now. We are not the only group or club to ask their members for time to implement the very recent changes and I think it is a very sensible approach.
We will provide regular updates and would like to thank you for your support and patience.
If you have any questions please contact your relevant group representative or one of the flag officers. Contact details are on the website.
Thank you and be safe.
