Stanford leads UC Davis at half 17-3 with 2 TD passes from Costello to Arcega-Whiteside

Although not looking sharp on offense for much of the first half, No. 9 Stanford took a 17-3 lead over FCS opponent UC Davis into the locker room at the break Saturday in front of a slim crowd at Stanford Stadium.

Quartback K.J. Costello of the Cardinal threw two touchdown passes to JJ Arcega-Whiteside in the first half. Stanford played without injured tailback Bryce Love.

Costello started off the game by sailing his passes. He missed Arcega-Whiteside deep and tight end Colby Parkinson on a 20-yard route on Stanford’s first drive.

The quarterback didn’t settle down on the second drive either. His pass for tight end Kaden Smith was too high and linebacker Nas Anesi picked it off.
