Regional racing & Class growth

From humble beginnings, the 5.5m Class in Germany has developed favourably over the last 15 years.   This month the number of boats in Germany has passed 70, of which 41 are racing at least one 5.5m regatta a year. The center point of development has been regional racing and the set-up of small local fleets.   An example is "Willi Lehmann Preis", a regatta in Berlin, held since 2007. With 7 boats only in the beginning, this year the hosting Club WSV von 1921 welcomed 14 boats in Berlin.
