Colgate vs. Fordham (9/16) Match Summary

This past Friday, your Colgate ruggers traveled to the Bronx to take on ERC and Patriot League foe, Fordham University.  After coming off a strong showing in the previous week’s match, our goal was to continue our strong push in the ERC.  With a large Colgate crowd under the lights, the stage was set-up for a wonderful night of rugby. The first half started with Colgate taking possession of the kick-off and going to work.  For much of the first half, Colgate was forced to play defense as Fordham did a really good job of maintaining possession.  When we did get the ball, we were unable to capitalize on field position and opportunities which really stalled our offensive attack.  At the end of the 40 minutes, Fordham was able to convert a late penalty kick to take the lead going into the half.  First Half score:  Colgate 0  Fordham 3.   The second half started much like the first half as both teams swapped possession.  Unfortunately it was Fordham that was able to take advantage of the territory they had gained to score the first try of the match.  Although Colgate was getting beat on the scoreboard, this did not […]
