Colgate Men vs. Binghamton Recap – 9/24/2016

Another September Saturday comes and goes as Colgate men’s rugby takes to the pitch for another ERC match-up.  This time we traveled to Binghamton University with the hopes of getting back to our winning ways, but would have to get past a strong Binghamton side. Before the match, both teams came together as a sign of respect as Binghamton had a dedication ceremony for one of their alums who tragically past far to young.  This tragedy hits close to home as the family of one of our seniors, Chris Wren ’17, are close family friend’s with the Mead Family.  Touching moment shared as both teams came together for a moment of silence. To begin the match, Colgate kicked off to Binghamton and were able to regain possession and attack.  Unfortunately for Colgate a series of penalties would halt our attack and Binghamton was able to move the ball down the field and dot down a try to capitalize on our misfortune.  Our boys gathered themselves and began applying more pressure.  Binghamton again, were able to take advantage of few miscues by us and dot down another try in the 17th minute.  The team’s morale would stay positive and it paid […]
