Colgate vs. Stony Brook – Game Summary
Photos here: https://goo.gl/photos/dxrUxc8vM1R46Skj8 After a great performance on a beautiful day at USMMA this past weekend, the men were in a positive mind set heading into their conference finale against conference rival Stony Brook University. Needing a win + a bonus point for scoring four tries (you earn a bonus point in the standings for this accomplishment), we knew it was not going to be an easy task. To make the make things more difficult, it was set to rain throughout the match while hovering around freezing temperatures. Regardless, the men knew what we needed to do and how we needed to do it. Electing to kick first, we pinned the Seawolves deep in their own territory. We were able to apply strong pressure for the first couple of phases which would eventually earn us possession. Colgate began attacking and in the 3rd minute Andrew Schwartz ’17 was able to cross-over for the first try of the match. The conversion after this try would become highly contested at the end of the match as, co-captain Eli Brick ’17, would slot the kick, but did not receive credit for it as the official did not acknowledge the made conversion.
