With nothing but pride to play for, as both sides were clear of the relegation play-off zone, this would be an interesting game.  With a stiff wind blowing down the sloping pitch, perhaps it would be a game of two halves ?

Driffield had a side featuring many of their younger players, with five of them 19 or younger – one of them making his 1st XV debut.

• 15:00 : Sandal kick off, playing with the slope and the wind behind them
• 15:02 : Sandal waste no time, scoring a converted try. S 7 – 0 D
• 15:06 : Followed by another, unconverted.  S 12 – 0 D
• 15:15 : And then a third, again unconverted.  S 17 – 0 D
• 15:20 : After finally getting into Sandal’s half, a Driffield pass is intercepted by Sandal to give them their bonus point fourth try.  S 24 – 0 D
• 15:31 : A further converted try stretches the lead.  S 31 – 0 D
• 15:42 : With half-time looming, Driffield finally get a score by Webster in his 100^th senior appearance, converted by Bradley.  S 31 – 7 D

• 15:56 : Sandal waste no time in the second half, scoring another converted try.  S 38 – 7 D
• 16:03 : Followed soon after by another.  S 45 – 7 D
• 16:06 : Finally, Driffield start to take advantage of the slope and wind, resulting in a try by Mewburn in his final game for the club.  Unconverted.  S 45 – 12 D
• 16:11 : Sandal respond with another converted try.  S 52 – 12 D
• 16:14 : Stephenson, playing his first game for the 1st XV since November 2022, goes from 35 out to score, converted by Binns.  S 52 – 19 D
• 16:26 : Webster goes in for a bonus point fourth try, converted by Bradley.  S 52 – 26 D
• 16:29 : Sandal respond straight away, with an unconverted try.  S 57 – 26 D
