Under 20s Finish League in Style
Under 20s Premiership – Queens University 33 Old Wesley 34
Old Wesley Under 20s loaded the bus and headed north to Queens University for their final league game of the season. Arriving late to the ground due to a crash on the motorway did not affect the preparation of the team and a shortened warm up.
What can only be described as a classic ensued that would have rivalled any of the 6 nations matches the day before, with both teams playing running rugby at every opportunity and with tries a plenty.
With 10 minutes left and trailing 33-24 the 20s showed the spirit they have shown all season by scoring 2 tries, the latter coming from prop forward Gavin Agar, who alongside his fellow front row forward Jason Shirley, were joint man of the match winners.
The bus journey home was enjoyed by all and then back to the club.
The focus now turns to the first round of the Purcell cup this Sunday (22nd March) in Donnybrook at 3pm where again we face Queen’s, who we are sure, will be out for revenge.
We ask all club members to get down and support our up-and-coming players this Sunday.
