Junior League and Cup update

With the leagues season end approaching here is the status of our four junior adult teams in their respective leagues.

Our 2nds play in Metro Premier 1 which is split into two sub sections.  Old Wesley has had a disappointing season at this level winning 5 and losing 8 matches, finishing 4^th in their sub section.  However, with the campaign now over we have avoided relegation and will remain in Metro Premier 1 for next season.

Our 3rds play in Metro 3.  Old Wesley are in second place having won 9, lost 2 and drawn 1.  Some clubs, including Old Wesley have outstanding matches but these probably will not be played as they will not affect the final placings.  So Old Wesley finish second and will play Lansdowne in the league final.

Our 4ths, or Colts, play in Metro 5.  They have completed their league campaign and have finished second on equal league points (50) with Lansdowne; both teams recording 10 wins and 2 loses each.  Lansdowne had the better aggregate score between our two sides so finish top and they will have home advantage in the league final.

Our 5^th team play in Metro 7.  After a slow start to the campaign, they currently lie in 3^rd place with 7 wins and 6 losses, and 1 point behind 2^nd placed St. Mary’s.  However St. Mary’s have three games remaining against lower placed opposition, so it would be hard to see them slip below 2^nd place.

As the leagues finish the cup campaigns start.  The draws have been made and are as follows:

2nds play St. Mary’s this Sunday, 8^th March in Templeville Road, in the 1^st round of the Metro Cup.  A win would earn Old Wesley a quarter-final meeting with the winners of Blackrock and Bective.

3rs play in the O’Connor Cup and meet Malahide, away in round 1.  4ths have a home fixture against Seapoint in the 1^st round of the Moran Cup.  Our 5ths meet Old Belvedere at home in the Winters Cup.  All three of these matches are scheduled for Saturday 28^th March, but it is highly likely that for some there will be an agreed change of date.  Check this website for further details.
