Pontypridd v Llangennech – Matchday Preview
This Saturday 17th January Pontypridd RFC welcome Llangennech RFC to Sardis Road for an Admiral Premiership match, kick off will be the usual time of 2:30pm.
Ponty travelled to Llangennech Main Field to take on the Bois y Llan earlier in the current league campaign on Saturday 20th September 2025, and as per the previous season when the sides met in Carmarthenshire it was a tight contest. Tries from Iestyn Harris, Louis Tovey and Joe Davies to go with kicks from Jaydan Pugh and Rhodri Smith earned the Valley Commandos a 27-19 win.
Llangennech’s last and only visit to Sardis Road came nearly a year ago to the day that this week’s match takes place. On Saturday 18th January 2025 Pontypridd ran in ten tries to secure a big win by 66 points to 28, which secured a season’s double in 2024/25.
Ponty will be looking bounce back this Saturday following defeat away to Narberth by 21 points to 14 two days ago. Despite the loss at the Lewis Lloyd Ground, Ponty’s losing bonus point extended the team’s lead at the top of the table to two points, but the chasing pack all have matches in hand due to numerous postponements as a result of the freezing weather conditions.
Llangennech currently occupy 9th place in the table having won four league matches so far this season, and they are yet to play a match in 2026 following two postponements due to the the bad weather over the last couple of weeks. Their last outing came on Saturday 20th December when they beat Newbridge by 25 points to 18 at Llangennech Main Field.
