Ponty RFC Supporting Velindre Hospital
A little earlier in the season, on Saturday 18th October Pontypridd played Cross Keys at Sardis Road, and the matchday bucket collection that afternoon was in aid of Velindre Hospital.
Velindre Hospital provides specialist services to support people who are suffering with cancer, and to put into context the outstanding work they do, they support over 1.5 million people in South-East Wales and beyond.
As a club we were only too pleased to support such a fantastic organisation, and everyone in the stadium raised £525 on that particular afternoon.
The Pontypridd Supporters Club contacted Velindre to inform them of the money raised, and were requested to purchase some items including pyjamas, deodorant, socks, tea and coffee.
These items were bought and Ponty Supporters Club officials Samantha Rees and Wendy Jones delivered them to the staff at the hospital where they were gratefully received, along with a donation of money.
Velindre Hospital would like to thank everyone who donated during the Ponty v Cross Keys match, Velindre Charity Director Paul Wilkins said: “On behalf of Velindre Cancer Centre, I would like to thank you for your kind donation towards our Velindre Crafters fundraising initiative.
Your support is sincerely appreciated and makes a huge difference to our staff, patients and their families.
We intend to use your donated items to generate vital income for the charity that will enable us to fund groundbreaking research, clinical trials, cutting edge treatments, specialist nurses, support services and much more which is above and beyond those provided by the NHS.
With your help, we can continue to provide Hope for the future.”
