“Club night” for Scotland rugby team at Linlithgow

Scotland Rugby Team hold “Club Night” at Linlithgow

The Rugby Club hosted a private function on Tuesday night for the Scotland Rugby team. The whole squad – players, coaches and support staff – attended and had a great time. Their caterers prepared a Spanish Feast, with two giant paellas cooked outside under the gazebo, and various pinchos (different meats on skewers), plus croquettes prepared in the Club kitchen. There was also a special leg of ham, carved in the Clubhouse, plus churros and chocolate dip to follow! Even with their voracious appetites, there was more than enough for our 60 guests and our own senior players benefited later on after their training!

Before the team arrived, Scotland assistant coaches John Dalziel and Pete Horne ran two short training sessions with the Reds u16s followed by the Reds u18s, both in the Indoor Training Centre.

The players enjoyed a darts tournament afterwards, with soft-tip air darts provided by Graeme Wright and his wife (a great party option – see details below) and an air hockey table supplied by Scottish Rugby sponsors Vodafone.

This was followed by various short presentations featuring Darcy Rae and Grant Gilchrist, before our guests held a charity raffle, with prizes donated by various organisations. Ironically, Gregor Townsend was the winner of tickets with pitch-side access to see a Newcastle United game!

The evening was rounded off with a couple of songs (Highland Cathedral and Scots Wha Hae) sung by the Rugby Club Male Voice Choir, followed by all the squad joining in for a hearty rendition of Killiecrankie!
