Old Wesley RFC Leads the Way on GOAL Jersey Day
On October 10th, Old Wesley RFC once again showcased the incredible spirit of giving and community that defines our club by proudly supporting GOAL Jersey Day — the annual nationwide event that encourages schools, businesses, and sports clubs to wear their favourite team colours and make a small donation to help GOAL’s life-changing humanitarian work around the world.
For the fourth consecutive year, every single team in Old Wesley took part in this fun and meaningful initiative. And once again, we achieved something truly special: Old Wesley RFC was the top sports club donor in the country – donating over €1,500, ranking among the top five GOAL Jersey Day supporters overall — alongside three schools and one business.
This achievement reflects the generosity, enthusiasm, and togetherness that make Old Wesley so unique. GOAL Jersey Day is more than just wearing a jersey; it’s about uniting people through sport and community — values that Old Wesley holds close.
A huge thank you to everyone who participated and donated, and to those who helped make this possible: Patricia Parfrey (Club President), Andrew Bowers (Chairperson), Ivan Sutton, Ronan Bools, and many others who championed this cause. Special recognition goes to Andy Miller, who has coordinated Old Wesley’s involvement for the past four years and serves on the GOAL Advisory Board.
