On a blustery Saturday morning in St Andrews, Madras / St Leonards hosted the Young Reds for an exciting S2 clash. Despite the swirling wind making conditions tricky, both sides produced an open, high-scoring contest filled with attacking rugby.
The visitors, Linlithgow, were in fine form and quickly demonstrated their attacking power. Strong support play, quick offloads, and pace out wide saw them rack up tries throughout the game. The points were shared among their standout runners, with multiple tries scored by Callum, Archie, Jack, Scott, Joe and Rory. Conversions were struck well by Max, Rory and Nathan, who coped well with the difficult kicking conditions. By full-time, Linlithgow had secured a convincing 76–31 victory.
Max impressed with his sharp distribution and strong passing to keep attacks flowing. Logan C was tireless in defence, making a string of excellent tackles. Logan P provided strong, direct running that tested Madras’s defence. Joe displayed excellent rucking and turnover skills while Lucas was everywhere in attack and defence, showing energy and smart decision-making that earned him the Player of the Match award.
Though the scoreline favoured the visitors, both sides contributed to an entertaining contest. Madras can take plenty of positives from their teamwork and attacking intent, while Linlithgow will be pleased with their clinical finishing and consistent pressure.
