Pontypridd RFC are very pleased to announce the signing of Louis Tovey from Risca RFC. The 29-year-old hooker has joined Ponty for the 2025/26 season with immediate effect.

Aside from Risca, Louis’ other former clubs are Bargoed, Ynysddu and Cross Keys and the powerful hooker featured twice against Ponty for Bargoed at Sardis Road in the league and at Bargoed Park in the Welsh Cup last season.

A native of Risca, Louis’ representative rugby has come for Islwyn Schools U15s, Dragons U16s and U18s Age Grade and the Dragons Academy as well as Welsh Crawshays Youth and Seniors. He has now made the move to Sardis Road and will be competing for the no.2 shirt throughout the team’s current league and cup campaign.

On joining Pontypridd, Louis said: “I am really excited and privileged to sign for one of the most iconic rugby clubs in Wales, and I can not wait to play in front of a packed Sardis road and make an impact.”

Pontypridd Head Coach Kristian Parker commented: “We are very happy to have signed Louis up for the current season. He brings lots of experience to the club having played in the Welsh Premiership before, and he will add competition to our squad which is what we want as a coaching team.”

Croeso Louis!
