Pontypridd v Narberth – Matchday Preview
This Saturday 13th September Pontypridd RFC play their first home game in this season’s Admiral Premiership when we host host Narberth RFC at Sardis Road, kick-off will be 2:30pm.
Ponty did the ‘league double’ over The Otters last season winning an entertaining encounter at Sardis Road by 52 points to 23 on Saturday 12th October 2024. Later in the season the Valley Commandos headed to the Lewis Lloyd Ground in what turned out to be a much tighter affair, tries from Joe Davies and George Thorrington sealed a narrow 16-13 win on Saturday 1st February earlier this year.
Prior to last season’s two league meetings the only other time the two clubs have met was back on 14th January 2006 in the Welsh Cup. A hattrick of tries from Chris Clayton, a brace from Dan Hitchings, and other scores for Morgan Stoddart, Nathan Strong and Gerald Cox along with five Dai Flanagan conversions resulted in a 50-0 win for Ponty that day.
Last Saturday Pontypridd opened their 2025/26 Premiership account with a hard-fought 34-17 bonus-point win away Brecon. Narberth also got off to a winning start in the league and enjoyed a very good home win against Bargoed by 28 points to 26. It’s still early days in the league standings, but Ponty sit joint-top of the Premiership alongside Cardiff Met and Ystrad Rhondda as the only three clubs to secure bonus-point wins last weekend.
There’s always a buzz in the air for the first competitive home match of the season, and the Valley Commandos will be looking to put a marker down in front of the Pontypridd faithful this Saturday.
PONTYPRIDD RFC MINI & JUNIOR DAY –
We are delighted to announce that Saturday will be one of the Club’s designated Mini & Junior Days – a day when we everyone connected to Pontypridd RFC can celebrate our fantastic Mini & Junior Section. The make-up of the day will be as follows:
The format will be as follows*:
– Pre-match parade around the pitch by the whole M&J section
– Fundraising bucket collection
– Guard of Honour (U9s, U10s and U11s)
– U7s and U8s to play tag matches against Llantwit Fardre at half time
– U12s to play Nelson after the seniors
– U15s to parade the Blues Cup around the pitch

Tickets – Admission on Saturday will be £12 full, £10 concession access-all-areas and under 16’s free if accompanied by a paying adult.
