Tenby United v Pontypridd – Match Preview

On Saturday 23rd August Pontypridd RFC head west to play Tenby United RFC, the pre-season friendly at Heywood Lane kicks off at 2:30pm.

Saturday’s match will be Ponty’s second visit to Tenby’s ground in just over twelve months following the Valley Commandos’ 35-12 win against the Seasiders on the 12th August 2024. The pre-season match last season was a first ever meeting between the two clubs and the hosts provided an extremely warm welcome to the Ponty faithful.

Tenby United are in the middle of a successful period in their history and only missed out on promotion from Division One West into the Championship West by one league point at the end of last season, and put in a stoic performance losing to Ystrad Rhondda 26-12 last weekend. Pontypridd enjoyed a 61-12 over neighbours Cilfynydd last Saturday so all the evidence points towards another good pre-season contest between the two clubs again this year.

Again, for the second year in a row a large contingent of the Ponty faithful will be making the trip to Pembrokeshire for Saturday’s match – we’ll see you all there.
