Connah Hughes signs for Pontypridd
Pontypridd RFC are delighted to announce the signing of Connah Hughes from Cross Keys RFC. The 29-year-old hooker has made the move from Pandy Park to Sardis Road ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Aside from the Keys, Connah’s other previous clubs include Neath RFC, Bridgend RFC and he’s also made two appearances on permit for Cardiff RFC. His representative rugby came when he represented the Welsh Crawshays on a number of tours. Many Ponty fans may also remember the powerful hooker from last season’s Welsh Cup final at the Principality Stadium when he scored for Keys in the closing stages of the match, although it was subsequently given as a penalty try.
We are now looking forward to seeing Connah’s try scoring exploits coming for, rather than against the Valley Commandos during the upcoming campaign.
On signing for Ponty, Connah said: “It is a huge honour to have an opportunity to represent such an historic rugby club. Having had the opportunity to play at Sardis road a number of times in my career, I am fully aware of how passionate and vocal the Ponty supporters are. It will be a special moment for myself and my family to now be apart of the club.”
Pontypridd Head Coach Kristian Parker said: “We are very pleased that Connah is joining the club for next season. He’s impressed when playing against us in the past, and he’s got great experience having played for a few clubs at our level. He is also a good scrummager and is effective around the park so we are looking forward to him running out at Sardis throughout the new campaign.”
Croeso Connah!
