Jordan & Callum Coxley sign for Pontypridd

0 8

Pontypridd RFC are very pleased to announce the signings of Jordan Coxley and Callum Coxley from Abercynon RFC. The two brothers have made the move to Sardis Road ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Jordan Coxley is 27-year-old flanker who captained Abercynon last season. He is also an ex-Pontypridd Youth player whose other previous senior clubs include Mountain Ash, Neath and Tata Steel. Away from the 15-a-side game, Jordan captains the Preseli Babas invitational 7s side

On joining Pontypridd for the new campaign he said: “I’m really grateful for the opportunity to play for a club like Ponty, which has a lot of history and a loyal fanbase. Having played my youth rugby here it’ll be nice to run out at Sardis again. I’m looking forward to a new challenge in this very competitive league and I’m excited to meet the boys and rip into the season.”

Callum Coxley is a 24-year-old centre who also starred for Abercynon last season and has been at his hometown club since the age of six, coming up through their age grade ranks. Callum also plays for the aforementioned Preseli Babas invitational 7s side, and also vice captains them.

Raring to go with the Valley Commandos, Callum said: “I’m honoured to join a club with the history and tradition of Pontypridd RFC. I’m grateful for the chance to learn from such experienced coaches and players, and I’m ready to work hard and play my part.”

On Jordan and Callum both signing for Pontypridd, Head Coach Kristian Parker said: “I believe getting the brothers on board are both shrewd signings. Both have been standout performers in an Abercynon team that is pushing at the top end of the Division 1 East Central table.

Jordan is an abrasive back rower with a good engine and skills, which are shown when playing 7s over the summer. Jordan complements the already stacked back row we have and will bring an edge that we believe will not only thrive in the league but also push the boys we already have.

Callum is a silky operator in the centre, he has a good turn of pace and a high skill level that we are looking forward to using within the season. Callum can also be that carrying force in the centre when needed to get us over the gain line.”

Croeso, bois!
