Scotland 2026 Summer Tour Squad Announced

0 9

Scotland Head Coach Gregor Townsend has confirmed his squad for Scotland’s 2025 Skyscanner Pacific Tour, with Rory Darge named as captain for the summer fixtures against the Māori All Blacks, Fiji and Samoa.

Darge, who previously shared captaincy duties with Finn Russell over the last two Six Nations campaigns, will now lead a 36-man group in Russell’s absence on British & Irish Lions duty.

Among those returning is Andy Onyeama-Christie, who is back in the mix after recovering from an ankle injury picked up in October last year. He made his return to action with Saracens in March. Hooker George Turner also rejoins the squad, having missed a year of international rugby while playing in Japan with the Kobelco Kobe Steelers. He is set to join Harlequins next season and will be looking to add to his 45 caps.

There is room for three uncapped players: fly-half Fergus Burke, back-row Alexander Masibaka, and tighthead prop Fin Richardson. Both Burke and Masibaka were involved in the Six Nations squad earlier this year, while Richardson travelled with the national team last summer on tour to Chile and Uruguay.

Eight Glasgow Warriors backs are included following the club’s United Rugby Championship play-off exit at the weekend. Ben White from Toulon returns for his second summer tour, and Arron Reed is rewarded for his progress with another call-up, having made his Scotland debut last July.

From Edinburgh, Darcy Graham, Harry Paterson and Matt Currie all get the nod, while Cameron Redpath, currently preparing for the Premiership final with Bath, joins alongside clubmate Josh Bayliss and Leicester’s Cameron Henderson.

Lock Max Williamson is also back in the fold after impressing during the autumn fixtures, having missed the Six Nations.

Up front, Alec Hepburn, Nathan McBeth and Rory Sutherland will battle it out for the loosehead jersey. At tighthead, Will Hurd and Elliot Millar Mills join Richardson in the front row pool. At hooker, Turner is joined by Patrick Harrison and Ewan Ashman, both regular squad members over the last year. Harrison is one of several players who debuted during last year’s Skyscanner Americas tour.

In the second row, Marshall Sykes keeps his place after earning his first cap in the Six Nations against France. He is joined by Williamson, Gregor Brown, Henderson and experienced campaigner Grant Gilchrist.

The back row sees a strong mix. Jamie Ritchie, Ben Muncaster, Matt Fagerson (still working his way back from injury), Bayliss, Darge, Masibaka and Onyeama-Christie round out the options.

All in all it’s a young but fresh-looking squad in many areas that will point the way for the future after some of the current top-flight players step off the stage over the next World Cup cycle or so.

The tour opens on Saturday 5 July with a fixture against the Māori All Blacks, the first time the sides have met since 2000. That match, played in New Plymouth, saw the Māori edge out Scotland 18–15. The only other meeting came in Edinburgh in 1998.

Next up is a game against Fiji, the first time Scotland have played there since 2017. Their last clash came in November 2024, when Scotland secured a convincing 57–17 win at home, with Darcy Graham grabbing four tries.

The tour wraps up on Friday 18 July in Auckland, where Scotland will face Samoa at Eden Park. The last meeting between the two was at the 2019 Rugby World Cup, where Scotland won 34–0.
