Reds win Edinburgh Northern 7s

The Reds 7s team hit their straps from the off at Inverleith Park on Saturday and never looked back, at the 71st Edinburgh Northern Sevens Tournament, sponsored by Blyth and Blyth. With 20 teams participating, this tournament has outlasted many others and has now taken its place as one of the top 7s tournaments in Edinburgh.

The Reds brought a young, fast and strong squad (as pictured above) through to Edinburgh, coached by Dougie Thomson, who starred for a 90 second cameo in the opening round match, parking his zimmer on the touchline, having first applied 3-in-1 oil to his joints! Inspired by their veteran coach, the young Reds squad had a field day winning all their matches to claim the Northern Cup for the first time since 1987!
