Pontypridd v Newcastle Emlyn – Matchday Preview
This Saturday 19th April Pontypridd RFC host Newcastle Emlyn RFC at Sardis Road in the Admiral Premiership, kick-off will be 2:30pm.
Ponty travelled to Dôl Wiber prior to Christmas, on Saturday 14th December and after a fairly attritional first half which saw the Valley Commandos lead 12-0, the team cut loose in the second forty to win 38-0. Pontypridd scored six tries in total – two for Joe Davies and one apiece for Ioan Evans, Cai James, Jeffrey Young and Mitch Barnard.
December’s match was the first ever between the two clubs, so this week will obviously be Emlyn’s first visit to Sardis Road and we are very much looking forward to welcoming their players, officials and supporters to town this Saturday.
Pontypridd ended a run of three consecutive league defeats with a hard-earned win away against Cross Keys last Saturday. The 27-15 bonus-point win keeps the team in second place but with both Merthyr and Neath winning with bonus-points there’s no positional movement.
This Saturday’s match will be Ponty’s first at home for four weeks and the team are very much looking forward to running out in front of our loyal fanatical supporters…especially as it’ll be the first time since being crowned Welsh Cup Champions!
PONTYPRIDD YOUTH –
Following the senior match, Pontypridd Youth will be playing Abercwmboi Youth with 5:30pm kick-off – even more rugby action on the pitch for your enjoyment.
