S2s in Fylde: Tries, Thrills, and Tour Triumph!
Our S2s have returned from their whirlwind rugby tour to Fylde, and they will have some tales to tell! From the sands of the beach to the dizzying heights of Blackpool Pleasure Beach, it was a weekend packed with action, laughter, and, of course, some cracking rugby.
Kicking off on Friday 14th March, the squad descended on Fylde with bags packed full of enthusiasm (and probably a few too many snacks). But before we dive into the fun, a massive thank you is needed for the incredible fundraising efforts that made this tour possible! Our S2s have been absolute superstars, scrubbing cars, hosting a thrilling race night, and running an amazing raffle.
We also want to extend a huge thank you to the Bill McLaren Foundation, the Blue Eyes Foundation, the West Lothian Education Trust, and our very own club for their generous support. And let’s not forget our fantastic sponsors, Park Farm Storage, Lees, and Livingston Chiropractic, who helped us get over the line. Your support has been massively appreciated!
Now, onto the rugby! Facing a formidable Fylde team, who’ve only tasted defeat once in the last 30 months, our boys showed incredible grit and determination. They stuck to the task, played some brilliant rugby, and bagged two well-deserved tries. The coaches were absolutely buzzing with their performance, and rightly so! Special mention goes to Jack Stuart and Adam Thompson who were both highlighted by Linlithgow and Fylde coaches for their fantastic performances.
But it wasn’t all about the on-field action.
Our S2s also enjoyed:
- Beach rugby: the sun shown, the taps were aff and the boys showed some early morning dog walkers their skills
- Blackpool Pleasure Beach: The young boys and some of the foolish older boys tackled the Big One along with many other rides on a Sunday afternoon of fun
- Amusements: The boys tested their skills (and luck) in the arcades winning tour mascot Reggie Red
- A Six Nations afternoon at Fylde Rugby Club: The boys joined the crowds watching Fylde 1st XV vs Hull and spent the afternoon cheering on the home nations.
It was a weekend of building friendships, creating memories, and experiencing the true spirit of rugby. The boys had an absolute blast, and we’re so proud of them all!
A massive, heartfelt thank you to everyone who played a part in making this tour a success. From the parents who cheered them on to the coaches who guided them, we couldn’t have done it without you.
And a special shout-out to our Director of Rugby, Ian McLean, who joined the tour, bringing a wealth of rugby wisdom and showing the boys exactly how to embrace the true spirit of a rugby tour! He gave a masterclass on how to have a great time!
Here’s to many more tours, triumphs, and unforgettable moments for our S2s!
