Working together in two separate teams, our P1s and P2s practiced their “W”s for catching and did lots (and lots) of running around during their 4 x 8 minute games against teams from other clubs.
Some were a little nervous at the start but the skills from weekly sharks & fishes, dodgeball and our other games were clear to see and showed how well they are all progressing. As a bit of fun to finish their session, all the kids from all the clubs worked together in a big game of “Space Rangers” against all the coaches (Naughty Aliens) before lots of high fives and all receiving their tournament medals.
With big smiles on their faces, they were a credit to the club as they showcased our rugby values, showing respect for their teammates, other clubs and all the coaches. From all the Coaches, great job P1’s & P2’s.
Building on our 2 x fixtures so far this season, our P3s worked together in two separate teams and played 5 x 8 minute games against teams from other clubs on P4 SRU regulation pitches of 22m x 28m. Since the start of this season, we’ve been working on running forwards and passing backwards in attack and tackling on the hips with two hands and moving forwards and backwards in a line in defence. With their Coaches supporting them, it was fantastic to see these skills in action during real games of touch against competitive opposition.
As sometimes happens, some kids took a few knocks but with the support from their teammates, all were back on their feet and back playing in no time showing true grit and determination at an early age. With some fantastic passing and catching, spectacular runs and tries aplenty, it’s clear to see how much they have all improved from the start of this season.
Even better, our rugby values were on display throughout, with hand shakes and loud three cheers for all the opposition after every game. Finally, special recognition needs to go to our P2 Superstar Oscar Thomson for stepping up and playing superbly with the P3’s. And…as he agreed…he did it happily for free
Fantastic effort P3’s, all your Coaches are very proud of you.
We also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all our amazing Micro’s families for coming out to support us at yesterday’s tournament. Your presence truly made the day special!
A special shoutout goes to our incredible volunteers — we are so grateful for your dedication and hard work. The event wouldn’t have been possible without you, and your efforts played a huge role in making it such a fantastic success. Thank you for everything!
