Combined u18 / u16 give good account of selves
Dunbar U18 38 – 19 Linlithgow u18/u16
Saturday 15 February 2025
Report by Graeme Miller
The U18’s travelled through to Dunbar with a combined U18 / U16 side on Saturday. This was a real test for the team, missing five u18 regulars who were playing senior rugby for the Reds 1s and 2s that day.
The home side were ultimately too strong for us scoring 6 tries to our 3. Their strong, direct running in the first half resulted in them being 19-0 up until we hit back with a try from our second row Ethan.
Half time 19-5 to Dunbar.
The second half started poorly for us again, with us slipping off tackles and allowing them a penalty try after 4 minutes with a high tackle over our own try line. 26-5 looked a steep hill to climb especially when we let them score another twice! 38-5 and we then decided to put some plays together resulting in captain Finn scoring with full back Ethan converting on 20 minutes in.
The rest of the game was back and forward with the Linlithgow boys gaining more ground and Ruaridh from the back row finding a gap from close range to crash over for his first Linlithgow try! Ethan converted this and there it finished at 38-19.
Special mention should go to the 4 U16 boys who we definitely needed and all played well, tackling and making ground under our possession. Well done Greg, Alex, Calum and Finlay.
