History made!!!
For the first time ever Old Wesley RFC had representatives in five girls teams over the weekend.
On Saturday our Under 16 representative Isabella travelled to Galway for a tour match which was won over Corinthians RFC, while at the same time our Under 14’s captained by Georgie were winning their first Leinster League competitive match this season. Rebecca scored a massive 11 points in the match while Cate crossed the whitewash to score 5 points, while Grace made the most impact at the breakdowns, in a 31-29 win.
On Sunday it was the turn of our minis as they took to the field in the Leinster Girls Mini Blitz being held at our friends Blackrock RFC. This was their first game playing half pitch and they found space very well and tackled strongly. At the same time our Under 10’s were battling hard, working well to support the ball carrier and be first to the break down. Finally our sole Under 8 representative, who was making her girls debut, took part in a mix of fun games and a match.
In total 21 of our girls were available for making history as OWRFC take another big step in the development of girls rugby within the club. If you know of anyone that is interested in joining us, we train on a Tuesday night at Wesley College between 6.30pm and 7.30pm and everyone is welcome.
