Hard fought victory sees U18’s overcome Haddington

The U18’s won a closely fought game at home on the top pitch,  29-21 against Haddington / Dunbar.  The visitors scored first after 20 minutes and very deserved with all the possession they had despite Linlithgow’s great defending. We then managed to score a couple of trys on 30 minutes through winger Calum and then on half time with No. 8 Finn crashing over from close quarter forward play. 10-7 at half time.

The second half started well for us with prop Cammy going over, again through good forward play but it didn’t last and Dunbars running rugby took a better hold and they were rewarded with going over and converting on 10 minutes making the score, 15-14.

It was desperate stuff after this with our flanker Lewis going over and No. 10 Ruairi converting making it 22-14. Back came Dunbar with great flowing  passing through their backs and they scored and converted making it close again,  22-21 on 18 minutes. The final blow came from us at 31 minutes with the winger Calum, again showing great pace to score under the posts with Ruairi converting to make the final, closely fought game 29-21 to us.

Congratulations must go to Calum and Lewis for scoring plus all their on field contributions all season so far, resulting in their call up to the Edinburgh squad along with Captain Alfie who’s an Academy player already.
Well deserved boys with a hard fought win today.
