A Tiger is off to the Paralympics!

Tyler Walker is heading to Paris to represent Team GB in wheelchair rugby!

Cheltenham Tigers’ Tyler Walker, departs on the 20th August to Paris to represent Great Britain at the Paralympics.

Tyler was born with Cerebral Palsy and first started playing Wheelchair Rugby when he was just 14 years old. Having returned to the sport just over 18 months ago, Tyler was selected to join Great Britain’s Talent Squad after 3 months of being back playing. Tyler impressed the national coaches during his time in the Talent Squad and made his international debut in June of this year at the Canada Cup, where Great Britain finished third overall.

Tiger’s Head Coach, Tom Denmead, commented “Tyler is a higher point player on the team and brings speed and height to Great Britain’s squad, which could really cause problems for some of the best teams in the world, such as Japan and Australia. At 20 years old, he is the youngest member of squad and the Paralympics will be a great experience for him. I’m sure this will be the first of many Paralympics for him”.

Great Britain are the defending Gold Medalists and have been drawn in a tough group and the games will be shown on Channel 4:

Australia v. GB – Thursday 29th August @ 10:30am
GB v. Denmark – Friday 30th August @ 10:30am
GB v. France – Saturday 1st September @ 6:30pm (showing in the clubhouse)
Knockout stages – 2nd and 3rd September
