Team USA has earned another medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics—this time, courtesy of the women’s rugby sevens team, which earned bronze in a historic match against Australia. The team posed with their medals on July 31 outside the Eiffel Tower in their official Olympics warm-up outfit, which includes red, white and blue Nike Air Max sneakers.

This milestone marks the first time the United States has won a medal in rugby sevens at the Olympics, and fans and players alike are excited about the accomplishment. Ilona Maher gained a following as a standout player during the team’s matches, and it was Alex Sedrick who won the last game with a clutch score as time wound down.

The team headed to a fan-filled arena to pose with their medals, dressed in matching uniforms provided for the players. The outfit consisted of light blue joggers and a navy T-shirt emblazoned with “United States Olympic Team” written around the American flag and the Olympic rings logo.

To pull together the casual patriotic outfit, the women wore Nike Air Max sneakers in a red, white and blue colorway. Against a white background, the shoes featured a navy blue swoosh and blue coloring on the heel and toe, with a red accent on the tip of the toe; the blue portion also featured a subtle pattern. As is the signature feature of the Air Max, the Nike Air cushioning technology is visible in the back of the sole.

This isn’t the only pair of American-themed Air Max sneakers at the Paris Olympics. Bronze and silver skateboarding medalists Nyjah Huston and Jagger Eaton celebrated their accomplishments wearing red, white and blue Air Max Dn sneakers, which include a multilayer mesh upper and a Dynamic Air unit system featuring dual pressure tubes. Before arriving in Paris, Simone Biles and her fellow Olympic gymnasts, now gold winners, wore all-white Air Max sneakers at the end of the Olympic trials when they learned they were headed to the international games.

The Air Max 1 was first released in 1987, and the style remains one of Nike’s most popular shoes to date. Nike even celebrates the shoe every year with Air Max Day on March 26, commemorating the first shoe designed by Tinker Hatfield with new releases. Nike recently announced that it will be bringing back the Air Max 180 “Concord” sneaker, famously worn by Michael Jordan for a photoshoot with the 1992 Olympics Dream Team.
