Wilson-Hardy is alleged to have made a racist remark during a WhatsApp conversation with an unknown contact.

The rugby star shared a photo of her face covered in black, to which the contact replied: “Genuine chocolate face.”

Wilson-Hardy responded saying: “Thought I’d have a better chance with the blacks.”

The WhatsApp screenshot – believed to have been leaked – was shared on Instagram.

She has now been withdrawn from the squad on medical grounds with Abi Burton called up as her replacement.

A BOA spokesperson said: The British Olympic Association has confirmed that Amy Wilson-Hardy has been withdrawn on medical grounds from the Paris 2024 rugby sevens placement matches and will be replaced by Tokyo 2020 Olympian Abi Burton.

“As confirmed last night, the BOA continues to investigate this matter.”

A probe was launched into Wilson-Hardy’s alleged actions after an image was published on social media.

A spokesperson for BOA told The Sun: “The British Olympic Association has been made aware of an image published on a social media platform and is investigating the matter.”

Wilson-Hardy made her England debut in 2013 and started in Monday night’s Olympics quarterfinal when Team GB lost 17-7 to the USA.

Burton will take her place in the squad for Team GB’s final game against China to decide who gets fifth place.
