2024 Sardis 7’s – Tournament Report

The Senior Leg of the Sardis 7s – Saturday 27th July

Friday 26th to Sunday 28th July 2024 witnessed another very successful three-day Sardis 7s event. On Saturday 27th July, as has been customary in previous years, a mixture of local clubs and invitational sides came together to take part in the Senior Leg of the tournament. The results in the pool stage were as follows –

  • Cilfynydd 0-26 Canton
  • High Motive Commandos 10-14 USW
  • Durbins Devils 0-10 Cherubs
  • High Motive Commandos 0-7 Llantwit Fardre
  • Cilfynydd 0-21 Cherubs
  • Cynon Crusaders 26-0 USW
  • Cherubs 5-17 Canton
  • Cynon Crusaders 21-5 High Motive Commandos
  • Llantwit Fardre 10-7 USW
  • Cilfynydd 5-19 Durbins Devils
  • Cynon Crusaders 12-17 Llantwit Fardre
  • Durbins Devils 10-7 Canton

The sides then went into the semi finals based on their positions from the two pools, and following some tense matches USW and Cherubs went through to the Plate Final and Cynon Crusaders and Canton would compete for the Cup.

After two entertaining finals, Cherubs were Plate winners and Cynon Crusaders were crowned the Sardis 7s Cup Champions for 2024 following a 14-0 win over Canton.

Harry Morgan-Grant of Canton RFC was named the Senior Leg’s Player of the Tournament

 

The Youth Leg of the Sardis 7s – Friday 26th July

The Youth Leg of the tournament got the weekend’s action started on Friday 26th July and every single side did their themselves and their respective clubs proud.

The winners in each competition: Bowl Winners – Ynysybwl Youth, Plate Winners – Treorchy Youth and Pontypridd Youth were crowned 2024 Cup Champions.

Pontypridd’s Joey Williams was named the Youth Leg’s Player of the Tournament

 

The U16’s Leg of the Sardis 7s – Sunday 28th July

Finally, to finish off the weekend’s entertainment on Sunday 28th it was the U16’s Tournament. The winners in each competition were: Bowl Winners – Pontypridd U16’s, Plate Winners – Bridgend Athletic U16’s and Llanharan U16’s were crowned 2024 Cup Champions.

Lukas Williams of Llanharan RFC was named the U16 Leg’s Player of the Tournament

 

The tournament organisers would like to place on record their thanks to all the teams that took part over the weekend – every single one played their part in making it such an entertaining three days of rugby and all contributed to making the 2024 Sardis 7s a huge success.
