Video | Squad Family Day Held In Thomond Park

0 14

A squad family day was held in Thomond Park earlier this month which saw the families of players and staff attend a training session ahead of this month’s block of games which includes the two-match trip in South Africa.

The day was organised to further enhance the bond between players, staff and their families while also acknowledging the support that the families provide, particularly when players and staff are away on long trips.

“It’s fantastic to see all the kids out on the pitch, it’s a great chance for partners and families to connect,” Head of Rugby Operations Ian Costello said. “It’s just a really good opportunity for that family feel, for that connection before we go on that trip to South Africa.

“It’s just acknowledging that support that all the families give to the players. I think it’s important that we do acknowledge and appreciate how much the families do to support the players, especially in times like this.

“It’s fantastic for them to have an opportunity like this to come out onto the pitch and the second part of it is partners getting to know each other, families hanging out together and they might support each other while we’re away.

“That trip to South Africa is a really good opportunity for the group to get even tighter. Anytime we travel away like that it’s a really good opportunity to create that bond and I suppose today, hopefully, it gives an opportunity for families to do the same.”
