England were victorious in their Rugby World Cup opener against the Pumas despite being a man down.

Tom Curry was shown a controversial red card after a head-on-head collision with Argentina’s Juan Cruz Mallia inside just three minutes.

The England flanker was initially handed a three-match ban by the disciplinary committee, but this will be reduced to a two-match suspension on completion of the Rugby World Cup’s coaching programme.

Meanwhile, Japan are a point ahead of Red Rose in Pool D following their dominant 42-12 win against Chile last weekend.
