Who exactly are you going to get compensation from? No court in Australia would enforce an employment agreement that would effectively force an Australian citizen to live in another country or pay a fine. How would Leeds look trying to enforce compensation when the publicity would be spun as a club trying to make a new father leave his family if they don't want to leave? Do you really think the NRL (or more importantly the Players' Association, which is very powerful in Oz) would back Leeds in that circumstance?
Reality is, if push comes to shove and he says he wants to stay in Australia, we're done. You can stamp your feet and say its not fair, but again, this is not Segeyaro (or Craig Innes years ago). Macdonald can point to family circumstances that would make Leeds like the ultimate bad bosses if they tried to do much.
Fair it may not be. But that is one fight the club would have to walk away from if we want to employ Aussies/Kiwis in the future.
