Wakefield Trinity • Re: cas

Personally I think it’s very poor.

The fact is that license grading comes around every few years. Clubs know the criteria and clubs like ours who worked hard to set their academy apart from others and achieve an A licence should be acknowledged.

What’s happened here is Cas failed to meet the benchmarks required by their own admission and the RFL standards set. Yet, despite this they complain and the RFL roll over giving them a probationary 1 year ‘opportunity’ to then get re-assessed and meet the standards. That was not and should not have been an option.

It’s positive for Cas and young players in the locality but clubs like ours who put the effort and work in should be rewarded whereas those who fail to meet the benchmark should continue to strive towards it in the set format.

May not be a popular opinion but that how I felt a year ago when this surfaced.
