I agree that it wasn't close enough to be a penalty try but, equally, I believe, as do many others, that the try would have been scored, albeit, it wasn't certain.
Was it "clever" on the part of the Saints player. The sin bin would suggest that it was cheating ?
This was how the ref judged it that it wasn certain, player a bit of a distance away and ball bouncing towards the dead ball line and could have got to the ball, however if the ball was not moving and in play then the player would have got to the ball to score. That would have been a different call by the ref.
