After three preseason games, league rugby is back this weekend with an opening Roses derby against newly promoted Preston Grasshoppers! Wharfedale last played Hoppers in the curtailed 2019-2020 season in January 2020, with a pulsating ending resulting in a 26 -26 draw: Jonny Moore scored a try in the final moments which Jack Blakeney-Edwards converted to tie the game. That season was not a great one from Hopper’s point of view, early curtailment due to Covid saw them relegated along with Otley and Scunthorpe.
