I think Morley to Bradford would have been seen as a bigger deal, had we not signed Johns. I can imagine Millward would have been kicking off.
Overall most of the media coverage of us signing Johns was positive but there was some jealousy about us as the upstarts with ideas ahead of our station. My favourite part was when they were arguing that Johns' arrival would cause "unrest in the camp" because we had to release Graham Appo to make way for him on the quota, and that the rest of the squad might be upset at how a loyal stalwart who bled p&b like Appo was being forced out so they could play with Andrew Johns.
