IRELAND head to Paris for a battle between the two Six Nations favourites.

The Irish were the most impressive team in the competition on opening weekend, as they powered to a 29-7 bonus point win over Wales.

But it is France, who currently top the table after picking up a bonus point of their own.

The French struggled to get out of the blocks at home to Italy at the Stade de France last Sunday.

However, they ultimately ran in five tries to secure a 37-10 victory.

Ahead of the match, Ireland head coach Andy Farrell said: “We know how difficult it is to go to Paris. We are lucky, I suppose, to be on a winning run.

“You are always hungry to get off to a good start and we have managed to do that. We will lick our wounds and we will prepare properly for the French test.

“It is the test of all tests isn’t it, at this moment in time? Everyone knows how well they are playing.”

And that test has got even more difficult with the announcement that captain Johnny Sexton has been ruled out with a hamstring injury.
