as a Wiganer one of my strangest memories was a New Years day game at Wilderspool. Got there in plenty of time only to not got in as the gates were locked before we made it. Watched the whole of the 1st half through a hole in the back of the stand. At HT a shout went up that one of the turnstiles was open (dont know if it should have been, but wasnt hanging around to find out) so got the 2nd half inside
HKR away on a Wednesday night in January. Turned up in club shirt only, has to be the coldest i have ever been in my life. Although one game away at Watershedding may push that close as we had fans with hypothermia on that day
from a rugby perspective Wigan v Bradford in the playoffs stands out as we were dead and buried
New Year’s Day 1994 I think? Ice cold, low scoring game, but very tense. A controversial decision by Russel Smith too, which I think he subsequently admitted he got wrong.
