I also doubt that all these restrictions are needed (partly because I am up on the data due to my job of work, and partly because I am ever the optimist - and I want to go skiing this season!).
I perceive the risk as low enough to largely crack on with life.
Cleverer people are there to define the actual risk and give us guidelines or rules to follow. Whilst I don't necessarily like the rules, I follow them. I'm a good citizen.
If you perceive the govt to be over-reacting and you don't want to follow the rules, it is YOU who should stay at home. You don't get to opt out of a modern sophisticated society when you don't like the rules.
That's how society breaks down.
The "rights" these individuals are claiming in order to not follow the rules, is not freedom - it's arrogance and selfishness!
I. like you, feel the risks are diminishing - I still follow the rules.
